Inspiration
I first featured the sweet flower lace motif used in this blanket quite some time ago for the Easy Peasy Posy Shawl, Easy Peasy Posy Blanket and the Festival Vibes Beanie. More recently the flowers have been featured in my two Flora Lanterna Shawls and the Flora Lanterna Blanket.
The flowers have been well received and it was always my intention to use these in a simpler blanket design that didn’t require quite so much counting and with a repeat worked over less rounds.
So I have finally put pen to paper on a simple yet stunning design that works up very quickly and has a delightful appearance that is sure to make any recipient of this blanket smile!
This blanket works up very quickly and easily, without the need for much concentration. It is the perfect project to snuggle under and make mindlessly whilst watching a Netflix show.
If you are making this blanket as a gift for an older child, teen or adult consider also making a cute matching beanie from the Festival Vibes Beanie pattern.

Yo, insert hook through st, yo, pull through a loop (three loops on hook), yo, pull yarn through first two loops on hook (two loops on hook). Yo insert hook through same st, yo, pull through a loop (four loops on hook). Yo, pull yarn through first two loops on hook (three loops on hook), yo, pull yarn through all three loops on hook.
SC-Pct
SC, Ch 4, Sl St into FLO of SC that was just made.
StSC
Note: Can be substituted with (Ch 1, SC, Ch 2), any other chainless DC, or Ch 3. This stitch is also sometimes referred to as a standing stitch.
Ch 1, SC in first st, Ch 1, SC in FLO of SC that was just made (i.e. stacking second SC on top of first SC).
Tips
- Wet or steam block finished blanket for best appearance.
- As the blanket grows, to avoid a painful and lengthy frogging exercise, carefully check the stitch count after each side is made.
- If blanket starts ‘turning’ in appearance this can be corrected by working some rounds on WS instead of RS. Ensure the WS round(s) are consistently made in each repeat.
Pattern Instructions
Notes:
- The blanket is made in the round, from a four-round repeat.
- If preferred, for simplicity a single DC can be made in place of pattern instructions 2DCCl.
- Each round commences and completes in a Ch 2 Sp corner (for neatest seam).
- Work all stitches in ( ) in the same stitch from the previous round.
- [ ] contain a short stitch sequence that is worked multiple times when constructing a single side of the blanket.
- * * contain a longer stitch sequence for an entire side of the blanket square that is repeated to make additional sides of the square.
- A stitch count follows each round instructions in ( ).
- StSC are included in the DC stitch count.
- First and last Sl St in the round are not included in the stitch count and should not be worked into in subsequent rounds.
