Boho Vibe Crochet Facial Rounds

Sweet, small facial rounds that are both pretty and functional!

Pattern Details

Refer to Appendix A for example project details.

• Skill Level: Intermediate
• Yarn: DK/8ply/Cat. 3 weight yarn (for small rounds) or Worsted/10ply/Cat. 4 weight yarn (for larger rounds). Cotton or cotton/bamboo blends, ~8-10g/0.3-0.35Oz in total per round.
• Hook: Use yarn label instructions as a guide for selecting hook size. Swatch to determine the optimal hook size for your tension.
• Facial Round Size: Varies with brand and weight of chosen yarn. ~8.5cm/3.5in in diameter in DK yarn.
• Gauge: Specific gauge not required.
• Stitch Terminology: US. Refer to Abbreviations and Special Stitch Instructions.
• Notions: Scissors and darning needle.
• Pattern Synopsis: The facial rounds are constructed in the round, over four to five rounds in total, with their texture resulting from a combination of cluster, puff and post stitches.

Special Stitch Instructions

2DCCl: Yo, insert hook through st, yo, pull through a loop (three loops on hook), yo, pull yarn through first two loops on hook (two loops on hook), yo insert hook through same st as prev, yo, pull through a loop (four loops on hook), yo, pull yarn through first two loops on hook (three loops on hook), yo, pull yarn through all three loops on hook.

Beg2DCCl: Note: Can be substituted with Ch 4 and DC, with Sl St into DC when fin the rnd. Ch 1, SC in first st, Ch 1,  insert hook through FLO of first SC made, yo, pull through a loop (2 loops on hook), yo, insert hook again through first st, yo, pull through a loop (4 loops on hook), yo, pull yarn through first two loops on hook (3 loops on hook), yo, pull yarn through all three loops on hook.

DCStndSt: Note: Can be substituted with (Ch 1, SC, Ch 2), any other chainless DC, or Ch 3. Refer also to YouTube video. Ch 1, SC in first st from prev rnd, Ch 1, SC in FLO of SC that was just made (i.e. stacking second SC on top of first SC).

FpDCStndSt: Note: Can be substituted with (Ch 1, FpSC, Ch 2) or any other chainless FpDC. Same principle of construction as for DCStndSt except the first SC is made around the st post instead of into the top of the st. Ch 1, FpSC around first st from prev rnd, Ch 1, SC in FLO of SC that was just made (i.e. stacking second SC on top of first SC).

Invis Join: Note: Can be substituted with Sl St. Refer also to YouTube video. Remove loop from hook, insert hook from back to front (through BL and then FL) of st that join is to be made in, return yarn loop to hook, pull yarn through st (from front to back), gently pull yarn end to tighten join.

Puff St: Note: The following instructions are for a modified Puff. Yo, insert hook through st, yo, pull through a loop (three loops on hook), two times in total (seven loops on hook), yo, pull yarn through first six loops on hook (two loops on hook), yo, pull yarn through both loops on hook.

Tips

• Use a soft cotton or cotton blend that washes up well with minimal piling.
• If more pronounced Puff are preferred, then an additional yo can be made (for nine loops on hook in total before the last yo and pull through yarn).

Pattern Instructions

Note:

• FpDCStndSt counts as a FpDC for st count purposes.
• Beg2DCCl counts as a 2DCCl for st count purposes.
• Beg Ch 1 and fin Sl St do not count as a st.
• Where multiple sts are contained within ( ) in the pattern instructions, these sts should all be made in a single st from the prev rnd.
• Rep st sequence in [ ] the number of times specified by the pattern instructions.
• A st count follows each rnd instructions in ( ).

Beg Circle: Leaving a beg yarn tail of sufficient length to sew in, make a circle with either MC, or Ch 4 and Sl St into first ch.

Rnd 1: Beg2DCCl in circle, Ch 1, [2DCCl in circle, Ch 1] rep seven times in total, Sl St into Beg2DCCl. (8 2DCCl, 8 Ch 1 Sp)

Rnd 2: FpDCStndSt around Beg2DCCl, 2 DC in next Ch 1 Sp, [FpDC around next 2DCCl, 2 DC in next Ch 1 Sp] rep 7 times in total, Sl St into FpDCStndSt. (8 FpDC, 16 DC)

Rnd 3: FpDCStndSt around first st, DC in next DC, Puff in btwn st posts of prev DC and next DC, DC in next DC, [FpDC around next FpDC, DC in next DC, Puff in btwn st posts of prev DC and next DC, DC in next DC] rep 7 times in total, Sl St into first st. (8 FpDC, 16 DC, 8 Puff)

Rnd 4: Ch 1, FpSC around first st, 2 SC in next st, rep 15 times in total, Invis Join into first st. (16 FpSC, 32 SC).

Rnd 5 (Optional): Note: Work all sts in BLO. Ch 1, SC in first three sts, rep 8 times fin with SC in last two sts for last rep, Sl St into first SC. (56 SC).

Finishing: Optionally Ch 6 and Sl St back into same st for hang loop. Fasten off yarn with sufficient length to sew in securely. Using a darning needle sew in all yarn ends securely on WS of facial round.
