V-St
Notes:
- This V Stitch uses stitch sequence TR – Ch 1 – TR.
- The first V Stitch in the row will commence with a Ch 6 (that counts as a TR and a Ch 1 Sp).
- In Row 1, the V Stitches will be made in the starting circle.
- From Row 2 onwards, the first and last V Stitches in the row will always be worked in a Ch 1 Sp of a previous row V Stitch.
First V-St in row: Ch 6 (counts as a TR and Ch 1 Sp), TR in circle/Ch 1 Sp of first V-St.
Last V-St in row: TR in circle/Ch 1 Sp of last V-St, Ch 1, TR in circle/same Ch 1 Sp.
Pattern Instructions
Notes:
- Separate instructions are provided for two design options – flowers with wider and closer spacing. A bonus flower option is also provided as a variation to try.
- Each row commences and finishes with a V-St (forming a V-St border on both long edges of the scarf).
- The first and last V-St in the row will always be made in the Ch 1 Sp of a V-St from the previous row.
- The V-St border and the central scarf fabric will be separated by a Ch 1 Sp (on both sides of the central fabric).
- To commence each row, from Row 2 onwards, Sl St directly into Ch 1 Sp of first V-St.
- The scarf is made from two separate ‘halves’, to ensure both ends have an identical appearance. The ‘halves’ do not need to be identical in length – i.e. one ‘half’ can have one more flower motif than the other ‘half’ if needed to achieve the overall preferred length.
- Refer to Appendix B for images of Flwr Petals.
- A stitch count follows the instructions for each round in ( ).
- The Sl St to commence the row do not count as stitches for stitch count purposes.
- An optional Scarf Cuff can be made as a fun and easy way to secure the scarf ends. Instructions for this follow on from the scarf instructions.

Row 12 onwards

Fasten off yarn, ensuring that for second half sufficient yarn tail length is left to sew the two short Row 10 repeat edges together.
Finishing
Sew Row 10 Repeat edges together on WS.
Sew in all ends securely on WS.
Easy Scarf Cuff
A Scarf Cuff is a fun and quick option for securing the scarf without looping or tying the scarf. This is particularly useful when making a scarf from a limited amount of left-over yarn and there is insufficient yarn to create a length that will allow for looping of the scarf.
Use left over yarn to whip up a Scarf Cuff for an additional wear option using Scarf Cuff instructions below.
Foundation Chain
Ch a length that is approximately 12-13cm/5in, Sl St into first Ch.
(St Count: n Ch)
Rnd 1
Ch 1, SC in first and each Ch around, Sl St into first SC.
(St Count: n SC)
Rnd 2
Ch 1, SC in first and each st around, Sl St into first SC.
(St Count: n SC)
Rnd 3 onwards
Repeat Rnd 2 until cuff is preferred height.
(St Count: n SC)
Optional edging – top & bottom
Optionally work an edging in top and bottom of Scarf Cuff using a decorative stitch such as Spn St, i.e.:
Ch 1, Spn St in first and each st around, Sl St into base of first Spn St.
(St Count: n Spn St)
Finishing
Fasten off yarn and sew in ends securely on WS.
Bonus Flower Option
This Flwr consists of Petals that are a 2 TR Cluster equivalent (instead of a 3 TR Cluster equivalent), with 8 Petals made in total (instead of 6).
