A pretty and feminine lacy triangular shawl featuring budding blossoms. The shawl can be sized to preference according to the number of repeats worked.
The pattern works up beautifully with gradient yarns, with rows or repeats made with separate solid colours, or with a single colour yarn.
This is an original pattern by Farrah Jane Tate. - Recommended Yarn: Yarn of any brand, fibre and weight can be used. Use a single yarn colour, multiple yarn colours, or a gradient yarn. Refer to Appendix 1 and Ravelry projects for yarn inspiration.
- Hook: Use yarn label instructions as a guide for selecting hook size. Swatch to select the hook size that achieves the preferred drape.
- Size: Size to preference by adjusting the total number of rows. Refer to Appendix 1 and Ravelry projects for example shawl sizes.
- Skill Level: Intermediate.
- Stitch Terminology: US – refer to Abbreviations and Special Stitch Instructions for stitches used in the pattern.
- Gauge: Not important for this item. Ensure chosen hook/tension results in a lacy drape.
- Pattern Synopsis: Triangular shawl that is constructed top down, in rows, working back and forth. The lacy design has a nine-row repeat, which includes solid rows, filet rows, a triangular lattice row, and budding blossom motif rows.

Tips
- For best results, use a yarn that is composed of a fibre that yields good stitch definition (avoid extremely soft/ unstructured yarns and fluffy yarns).
- Shawl can be worn either side – according to personal preference. Shawls are pictured with uneven rows as RS (and even rows as WS).
Abbreviations
- Beg = Beginning

- HDC = Half Double Crochet
- HTR = Half Triple Crochet. Refer to Special Stitch Instructions.
- MC = Magic Circle

Pattern Instructions
Note:
- For stitch count purposes and following row:
- Beg Ch 4 counts as DC and Ch 1 Sp.
- Beg Ch 7 counts as HTR and Ch 3 Sp.
- DC2TogCl counts as DC.
- A stitch count follows each row instructions in brackets.
- St Repeat symbol explanation:
- ( ) – work all st within the ( ) brackets in the same st from the previous row.
- * * – repeat the large st sequence within the * * as specified. This is used to construct the second side of each row.
- [ ] – repeat the small st sequence within the [ ] as specified. This is used for a repeating st sequence within a single side, however as this repeat is embedded within a * * repeat, it will also be made in the second side when the * * repeat is made.
- + – finish the [ ] repeat st sequence at + for the final repeat.
- If preferred:
- For each Row 4 of the repeat, pattern instructions to DC in space between the two HTR can be substituted instead with DC2Tog over the two HTR.
- A smaller triangle lattice can be made by substituting pattern HTR stitches with DC stitches.

Third Repeat onwards
Construct in same manner as Second Repeat (noting that additional st sequence repeats will need to be made). For detailed instructions for remaining shawl construction refer to the Generic Repeat written instructions and Repeat Table in the Ravelry pdf – click to buy now direct from Ravelry.
Note: The shawl can be finished after desired length is achieved, however if working the pattern simple border this must be added after any repeat row 9. 63 rows have been constructed for the example shawls (i.e., seven complete repeats made in total).
Finishing/Border
Finish the shawl with the simple example border (instructions below), a border of your choice, or alternatively, add a pretty fringe along the two short edges of the triangle.
A st count has intentionally not been provided as this border is intended to be worked after any repeat Row 9.
Pct-Ch instructions: Ch 6, Sl St into 3rd or 4th Ch from hook (according to personal preference) (Pct made), Ch 3.
Border Row 1 – Ch 1 Sp Filet: Turn, Ch 4, DC over first Ch 1 Sp, *Ch 1, DC in next DC, [Ch 1, skip next DC, DC in next DC] until last DC in the side is worked into, Ch 1*, (DC, Ch 2, DC) over centre Ch 2 Sp, rpt st btwn * * once more, (DC, Ch 1, DC) over the last Ch 1 Sp.
Border Row 2 – SC & Pct-Ch: Turn, Ch 1, SC over first Ch 1 Sp, *[sk next DC, DC over next Ch 1 Sp, Pct-Ch, sk next DC, DC over next Ch 1 Sp, sk next DC, SC over next Ch 1 Sp, Ch 1, sk next DC, SC over next Ch 1 Sp] until reaching the last three DCs in the side (before the centre Ch 2 Sp), sk next DC, DC over next Ch 1 Sp, Pct-Ch, sk next DC, DC over next Ch 1 Sp, sk next DC*, (SC, Ch 1, SC) over centre Ch 2 Sp, rpt st btwn * * once more (this time rpt [ ] until reaching the last four DCs in the side), SC over the last Ch 1 Sp.
